The Urban Food Movement (TUFM)
The Urban Food Movement (TUFM) is a specialized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating food insecurity in Metro Atlanta and the City of South Fulton. Unlike traditional food pantries, TUFM operates as a "last-mile" rescue and distribution service, prioritizing high-quality, organic nutrition for those who cannot reach a store — including low-income individuals and families, seniors, children, homebound residents, college students, veterans, and those experiencing homelessness.
Core Identity & Mission
TUFM's primary mission is to ensure that "food as medicine" reaches the most vulnerable members of society. We believe that access to healthy, nutrient-dense food is a human right and a critical factor in managing chronic illness and long-term public health outcomes.
No Barriers to Entry: TUFM does not require proof of income, identification, or geographic residency to receive aid — ensuring that no individual is turned away based on circumstance.
Target Demographics: While open to all in need, TUFM specifically prioritizes children (comprising nearly half of all individuals served), seniors, veterans, homebound residents, low-income families, college students experiencing food insecurity, and individuals without stable housing.
Food Rescue: TUFM actively diverts surplus organic produce, bread, lean proteins, and non-perishables from landfills through partnerships with Whole Foods, Sprouts, Wayfield Foods, Patel Brothers Indian Marketplace, and Papa Johns — transforming retail waste into life-sustaining nutrition.
Hands-On Leadership Model
TUFM is distinguished by its "boots-on-the-ground" executive leadership, where the founding team personally executes the mission alongside volunteers.
Kimberly Williams, Founder & CEO personally leads all logistics operations, including bi-weekly direct doorstep deliveries to homebound seniors at high-density residential facilities such as Briarcliff Summit and William Booth Towers — combining critical nutrition with vital wellness checks.
Stacey Williams, CFO & City of South Fulton Planning Commissioner (District 5) bridges civic leadership and grassroots community service. She hosts TUFM's monthly large-scale distribution at Burdette Park, leveraging City of South Fulton resources and infrastructure to serve 400–500 individuals in a single day — reaching low-income families, seniors, children, and neighbors in crisis across the region.
